This series of onboard preamp systems represents another innovative leap in design. Advanced controls are combined with our patented 'fliptop' housing (pictured below) that enables the preamp chassis to pivot out of the guitar for easy access to the 9-volt battery. Most often seen as the choice for original equipment on many prestigious brand name guitars, the Prefix series is available for after market installation by any experienced repairperson.

Acoustic Heaven in an Active Magnetic Soundhole Pickup
We waited years to introduce a magnetic pickup that we felt was good enough for the Fishman name. We think you'll agree that the Rare Earth was worth the wait. The first thing you'll notice about the Rare Earth is just how easily and cleanly it installs in your guitar. The pickup's low profile design ensures that both your picking style and the guitar's acoustic tone are not affected. To reduce the weight and improve the performance of the pickup, we use tiny, powerful neodymium pole-piece magnets, precisely voiced for balanced natural sound, whether you use bronze or phosphor bronze strings. Plug in the pickup and you'll hear the brilliant acoustic quality that has changed so many peoples' minds (including ours) about soundhole pickups.
This Rare Earth is for musicians who demand quieter reproduction than a single coil pickup can offer. A brilliance switch, located on the underside of the pickup, is easily accessible through the soundhole. This switch provides a subtle treble boost, from 2 kHz to 20 kHz, which is especially effective for adding a bit of extra sparkle to fingerstyle playing. Battery life is rated at 300 hours.
