"17 Year Sun" has risen. The Burning Dirty Band's second full-length album will be the most surprising disc you'll hear all year.
What exactly is the 17 Year Sun? We say it's a blend of cicadas, impermanence, and moments of unexplainable clarity. The sonic inquisitiveness and diverse tastes of the BDB are fully realized in this sophomore studio effort. Shimmering fluorishes of guitar and keys mingle amicably with nimbly-stepping bass tones and rootsy, swaggering drum rhythms. The vocals and lyrics settle into an honest mood that is distinctly BDB.
www.kyndmusic.com calls 17 Year Sun "a blend of musical quirkiness, roots inspiration and a garage band's edge...an indescribable CD. Part groove, jazz, downright weirdness and mountain psychedelics, it is a journey of tightly composed jams and loose mellow riffs"
Recorded at Sauceland, the BDB again employ Steve West (Pavement, Marble Valley) as producer, engineer, and advisor in all things dirty. West helps Cory Garman, Ben Whitlock, Ryan Steele, and Jereme Steele fully realize their vision of a complete album, flowing through moods and textures effortlessly. 17 Year Sun speaks with the authority of seasoned songcrafters, tempered with the BDB's irreverent prankster personalities and undeniable sense for an eardrum-pleasing melody.
Defy conventional wisdom. Stare directly at this sun and surprise yourself.

Chef Eric Band
Today's Specials
Q: Are you a chef?
A: Chef Eric is not a certified chef. On stage, he’s a chef. In rehearsal, he’s a chef. With musical composition, he’s a chef. In the kitchen, he’s had the titles of assistant chef, kitchen manager, and assistant to the executive chef. But he’s not a chef. Close enough for rock ‘n’ roll, though.
Q: Why the Chef Eric Band?
A: Well, it’s a mixture of elements and it’s put together like a recipe. So…
Q:What kind of music do you play?
A: This is the one we don’t like to answer. Since you’ve read this far, I’ll give it a try (but it’s a secret recipe so we’d appreciate it if you’d keep it under your hat, so to speak).
In a large stock pot over medium heat, add
1 monster drummer
1 groovy bass player
2 guitars, one red, one blue.
Add one heavy duty soulful singer and fold in gently.
Add one grated Appalachian washboard.
Increase heat to high until the mixture bubbles.
Turn out onto stage and cook under hot lights until mixture glows.

The Burning Dirty Band - Goodbye Dominion
Goodbye Dominion is the defining Burning Dirty Band album. Smartly arranged, blues-tinged indie rock is dappled with psychedelic shimmers, raw lo-fi soul, and simmering, spacious anthemic power. Fans of Spoon, Wilco, David Bowie, The Band, and The Beatles will find plenty to like.
Longtime collaborator Steve West (Pavement; Silver Jews; Marble Valley) again lends his talents behind the boards as the BDB explores a newfound minimal efficiency and darker moods than on previous efforts. Sparse, cascading piano countermelodies from Jereme Steele weave around Ben Whitlock's swaggering bass rumble. Cory Garman's guitars alternately shimmer, crunch, and squall accompanied by the subtle propulsion of Ryan Steele's focused drumming. It's an album built from the ground up- methodically assembled and superbly textured.
This is music of loss, recovery, doubt, daydreams, hard realities, and the uneasy compromises of living in a cluttered world. Say hello to Goodbye Dominion. Say hello to the next chapter of the Burning Dirty Band

Annie & Mac - Fresh From The Cave (With Andrew Acosta)
A CD with all the old time folk elements you've been looking for - love, pathos, humor, faith and hope with fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin and sweet harmony duets
Annie & Mac have brought together a group of songs from what you might call deep catalog old time music. Influenced by Uncle Dave Macon, the Bailes Brothers, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Jimmy Driftwood, Grandpa Jones and others, Annie & Mac provide a pleasing mix of humorous, love, gospel, and old-time songs which they sing with love and joy in the old time duet style. Mac's clawhammer banjo and Annie's rhythm guitar are complemented by a group of musicians who are well steeped in the old time traditions. Speedy Tolliver and Keith Dill are both award winning fiddlers. Speedy recently received a Virginia fellowship for his longstanding musicianship and presides over the annual fiddle contest named in his honor in Arlington, Virginia. Andrew Acosta is a fine singer and instrumentalist in his own right and has released a solo CD of his own compositions. Rosser Clark adds much to the joy of this CD with his expressive guitar work. Don Rusnak is an exponent of many different banjo styles. He plays fretted and fretless banjo here and maintains that old time atmosphere. Barb Diederich's solid and accomplished bass playing completes the old time ensemble. This project was a work of love from beginning to end. We hope you will give a listen and feel the joy of the old time
